Investment Casting

Investment Casting

Investment Casting is a process in which wax or sometimes even a plastic pattern is coated or invested with specialist alloys / refractory ceramic material. Once the ceramic material hardens, its inside surface adopts the pattern of the wax casting. The wax is then poured out after melting it and the molten metal is then poured inside to fill the space. The process of investing or surrounding the wax pattern gives this manufacturing process its current name of Investment Casting while its erstwhile name, the lost-wax process was also derived from the process of pouring out the molten wax. This process is commonly used in making dental fixtures, gears, turbine blades and even jewellery to name a few.

Advantages Of Investment Casting

•    Intricate and complex pattern designs can be produced using this technique.

•    The finished product has a very smooth surface without any partition line.

•    The process eliminates or limits the use of machinery in achieving the end product

•    A wide variety of products can be made using this technology, thus catering to a large number of industries.

Atul Precision Cast and Investment Casting

Investment Casting is synonymous with creators of products which have dimensional accuracy, a must feature for investment casting, in which castings of complex designs are needed. Since every used wax pattern is destroyed after use, a large number of such wax patterns are needed and Atul Precision Cast does not have quantity production as an obstacle. In fact, the large-scale production makes them cost-effective in an expensive technology.
